With the rise in AI art, I've dabbled a bit in visualizing the events of the opening of the Dark Matter trilogy. Chapter 1 now has three pieces dedicated to it. Now, these aren't JUST AI generated. I've had to go in and heavily modify them to actually work with what I needed. But it was a blast!

Had a fun idea for a power metal album title, and slapped it into Midjourney to see what it would look like. I like it. Now, I need to make something VERY clear for the overly-literal folks out there: I am against the mis-use of AI art that brings harm to individuals. HOWEVER, I am for utilizing AI generators and have done so for years (procedural generators for example). I bring this up because I've seen some horrible situations unfold as AI is used. I have also seen some horrible things said to people who use AI generators and some words made their way in my direction. I have been a digital artist for my entire career as an artist. Do not mistake the CGI pieces created last year to be AI-generated. These took hour-after-hour to craft. The same applies for the hundreds of cosmic creations made over the years that now sit in an archived gallery found here. That said, I'll be making use of AI art here-and-there this year as I advance the Dark Matter Universe. I just want people to understand that I understand AI art. I see the good and the bad. But I see more good, just as I do in all forms of AI. So be ready to see more. Hope everyone is making it through this chilly weather! I've been a bit quiet on the art front in recent months, but I've picked back up on live streaming over on Twitch, so don't forget to check that out! In other news, a fourth Dark Matter book has been completed and will be releasing on Kindle this Friday (February 3rd). This is not as long as the previous books, as it's a spin-off novella, but it's gotten reviews from beta readers. It's Dark Matter's final appearance in the series until the next full novel which will hopefully arrive at the end of 2024, so you don't want to miss this! As with Dark Matter III, I've made the Kindle edition available for pre-order, so be sure to check it out below!
It was time to do it. A piece inspired by the sci-fi series of the same name. The very sci-fi series that I've LITERALLY spent my entire life working on. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you Dark Matter.
More volumetric space. Or nebulas. Your pick. I went with a very rust-like coloration t contrast some of the previews digital pieces I've done. I really love how this one turned out.
Good evening! If you saw the previous news post, you may have noticed that nothing posted. Table Manners is officially being animated, but it is in a 9:16 vertical format for YouTube Shorts, TikTok, and Instagram Reels. We are addressing the issue of embedding the pilot episode on other websites by reformatting the episode in a 16:9 format. It may take some time, but I'll pop the video up here when it's done.
Another note: you will notice many pages have been removed from this website. From here on out, this site will solely be used for literature and digital/polished collage art. All other art, including comics, games, and animation, can be located on the Laughing Matter Studios website. |
