As of now, Table Manners has been going strong for four years since it's reboot in 2018! It's insane to think that I've been doing these comic strips for so long, and there's even a videogame for the series (yes, just click the "Games" tab on the top of the page and play it right here on my website). This is also a momentous occasion because Laughing Matter Studios (LMStudios, LMS) is also now four years old! As I take my studio into our fifth year, I hope to continue to bring content for everyone! And I should add that we have some SERIOUS stuff in the works (just check out the Dark Matter pic below, under the Table Manners comic strip).
Time for a weekly art piece! I've been enjoying the hell out of doing these models. And yes, I'm modelling ships now. Yes, these mean Dark Matter is REALLY moving along now. To the moon!
That's right! Spaceships! I'm finally getting to that point after all these years! The Journey Blue (the...blue ship) is a keeper! Several other ships were developed for this piece, so that was kind of cool. The only lacking factor is scale between the different ships, but that will be shown off in some of my next pieces (many of the ships are fairly far from each other).
The first art piece of 2022 has been completed! I introduce: Distant. Now, there are two version of this piece. This is the 4K resolution. There exists an 8K version and that can be purchase as a print. The 8K digital version will also be going for sale soon as an NFT.
I've worked on setting things up off and on for several years, but I've finally got my streaming rig set up! Check out my streams over at: https://www.twitch.tv/taylorwwilsonw! And, yes, Table Manners: Worm-Cation got the stream treatment!
There's been so much going on at LMStudios that I've been a bit overloaded lately. I'm gearing for a major project that kicks off at the start of the new year, followed by three back to back big projects. I'm not at the stage where I feel comfortable announcing every project, but I CAN say that all of it is Laughing Matter Studios. As it's the end of the year, I wanted to add a little more to answer some questions I've received. The biggest question I'm asked revolves around the third Dark Matter book. I'll put it this way: the manuscript is done. Not drafted. Not proof-read. It's done. Every step has been completed between the front and back covers. What's still in the works is the front cover itself. I had a vision for said cover (and this next part is entirely on yours truly) and I absolutely refuse to compromise on this cover. This cover is spectacular and entirely done in CG, though there are many elements I'm still adding in. When you see it, you'll know why I waited so long! Animated stuff. I get asked about it. I'm trying. Let's just say there's a Dark Matter animated short in the works. Being that only a few people are working on it, it's going to be a while. However, I will add that the Dark Matter animation is currently taking priority over any other animation projects LMStudios may have in the works. Table Manners still has it's monthly strips, with December's issue displayed below. I've begun developing new space art in full CG, as depicted with the first piece "Dreary" (above) and you should see a lot more of the new space art in 2022. I'll be making a couple more announcements before the end of the year, so I look forward to talking to everyone again soon. For now, have a fantastic weekend and keep it safe! If you know about Dark Matter, then seeing the picture below is enough. If you don't know who the character is, get ready. Laughing Matter Studios just punched the "Go" button on a short animated Dark Matter video. It'll take some serious time and energy, but there's a script down. Storyboarding is done. We're currently running into technical issues with importing the main background scene (it's basically a 3D model), but we have a list of solutions and we're quickly going through to find the one we need. Stay tuned!
